Auntie Toni, She is such a great baby. She just goes with the flow. Every now and then she has some gassy issues and she gets fussy, but overall I think we have been really lucky. We are having a blast. Hopefully I recover soon and we can head out on our first hike. I am dying to get out on the trails. But my body is still not ready, soon though!

“Product Development”?
Do you have the blueprint for Page? Or did she turn out to be so beautiful despite your lack of prior design?

Coming home, baby’s coming home
August 26th, 2010 by brendan
Mid yesterday morning I picked up Alex and Page from the hospital. It was the first time that I had used a car seat. It took a little adjustment, and we had our little one all safe and secure. It was very fulfilling to have my family at home.
After we three had a nap in our bed, we all went for a very slow walk around the block to slowly introduce Page to the world.

Keep that wife of yours in check. Mischy thought she could just run around like a crazy person when we got home. She ended up on bedrest for two weeks and I had to change a lot of diapers.

Oh, hi!
August 23rd, 2010 by alex
Page Gibson is here! For us American folk, she weighs 7 lbs. 8 oz. and is 20 inches long. No, she is not named after Jimmy’s guitar, but after Brendan’s Grandma Winifred Page. (Although thanks to Anne-Britt she does share the same birthday as Keith Moon.)Â Despite coming from a family of 11, Grandma was the last of the Page’s. When Brendan and I first found out I was pregnant, Â that was the name we immediately agreed upon.
Yesterday was a whirlwind. It went by so fast. I labored from noon – 2 AM and pushed for an hour when she was born at 3:07. It was 10 times easier than I thought it would be. I did have the help of an epidural, but I was still amazed by how smooth everything went. The last hour was extremely painful and looking back its like an out of body experience. Page came out as perfect as I could have imagined, healthy, soft, alert, beautiful.
Ok, so sleepy. More later…

Congratulations Brendan, that’s awesome, I didn’t even know you were expecting. Good luck

Yea!! Congratulations!! Such a beauty. Nice work there, Alex and Brendan. I cannot wait to meet her. It is a day of firsts and parental tears. This morning you just gave birth to your beautiful baby girl and I just sent mine off to the first day of kindergarten. Enjoy every moment — including all of the sleepless nights and hopelsss moments of trying to figure out what to do…. It goes WAY too fast.
Love you guys!!

Thanks Jodie! Craig and Anne arrive today and we’ll have to do an in person comparison. She does have these facial expressions that look a lot like Brendan and Brendan says they look like Craig. My Mom also thinks she looks like her and my Dad thinks she looks like him 🙂 Its so hard to tell! I hope you and Martin are doing well. xoxo.

We are at the hospital
August 22nd, 2010 by brendan
I’ll try to keep this post updated. All well so far. Little girl is doing just fine so far. Nurse is checking her heartbeat.
Alex is looking fantastic in her hospital gown with colourful moon and stars splattered over it.
It’s a beautiful day here in Stanford. Not a cloud in the sky.
Her water has broken. The plan is to be induced at 11:30am if we need to. Contractions are at 7 minutes apart right now. Alex is not in any pain. The monitor shows when the contractions are rather than Alex screaming. She is so tough.
Contractions are at two minutes. This means that Alex gets a minute of relief.
Alex’s Mom, Carson, and Cole were in earlier and brought some flowers and smuggled in some chocolate. We’ll see them again later this afternoon.
Baby’s heart rate is steady at 140. All going well.
Just had an epidural. Alex is in love with her anesthesiologist, who is from Dutch and has a very big moustache.
Not much happening right now. There was a major crisis earlier with a lost dog, but she was found safe and sound in the middle of Middlefield Road and will have a night with some new friends in the local dog pound.
Contractions are coming regularly. At this pace we are looking for an early morning birth, probably in five hours from now.
Alex is now in the stirrups. She will start pushing soon.
No cervix.
Pushing is trickier than it sounds.
I am getting good at counting to ten.
Sam has now taken over the counting. She is really good too!

Hi you guys, we’re thinking of you here in Silverton!!! Can’t wait to hear the great news!!
