Just what the Doctor ordered

September 19th, 2010 by alex

Our dear friends Meegan and Robert came down from Marin yesterday to meet the babe. The boys got a big ride in and the ladies all went for a hike. It was such a nice afternoon. Afterwards Mama and Papa Gibson offered to babysit Page for the night so Brendan and I could go out. After we dropped off the babe, we came home, laid down for a little rest and woke up 12 hours later. So much for going out! I guess we needed to catch up on some sleep…

Page is taking after her Dad in the thoughtfulness category. After a long night and a bit of a groggy day, it was nice to come home to a little pressie from Page. She knows how much I love lilies already. She also likes to take long walks in the backyard with Dad and pick little flowers from the garden.

First big road trip

September 17th, 2010 by brendan

A couple of days in the mountains would be nice.

We stayed in the former Olympic ski area of Squaw Valley, fifteen minutes from Lake Tahoe.

Let’s go to Yosemite!

Yosemite was full, so we stayed in Lee Vining on the east side of the Sierras, overlooking Mono Lake.

Don’t tell anyone, but we took the hire car down a dirt road to explore the ghost town of Bodie.

We did make it to Yosemite. Mum and Dad explored the Yosemite Valley while Alex, Page and I sought out bears in the forest near the Hetch Hetchy lake, where we stayed on the western side of Yosemite.

Let’s go home!

Page was Miss Relaxed in the car.

We have just returned from a 5 day road trip. Brendan and I sat in the back seat with Page while Grandpa and Grandma sat in the front and navigated us through Lake Tahoe and Yosemite. We drove on average for 4 hours a day and Page was the perfect traveling companion. She held on tight to Dad’s hand for many, many miles…

Duelin’ Granmas

September 4th, 2010 by alex

We were lucky enough to have two Grandmas in town to spoil our daughter for the last few days.

It was great to get the benefit of all the (not that many, really) years of child-rearing experience.

I’m glad to say that the two Grandmas shared the spoiling in good spirits.

No pistols at dawn.

No banjos.

Page’s first hike

September 4th, 2010 by alex

We ventured out to Windy Hill for our first hike with Page. Dad and Page could have kept going but I was holding up the pack. Recovery sure is slow, but it felt great to be out on the trails again and Dad got to carry Page this time.

  1. Great sling. Ewan is now in the Ergo and on the back. Thank goodness because my back was not holding up with the weight in the front.
